Grieg Logistics, Bergen, Norway

CONTINUOUS TRAFFIC UPDATES

Grieg Logistics manages between 1,500 and 2,000 port calls annually in 6 Norwegian major ports. With GAT-Ship, the company is in control of port costs, type of cargo, statistics and much more.

Grieg logoGrieg invested in GAT-Ship in the autumn of 2000. Systems and QA Manager of Grieg Logistics, Mr. Paal Stene is pleased with the system.
”GAT-Ship improves efficiency and is an important element in terms of quality assurance. We are more protected against error logging when key information is only registered once. A logging error can entail huge consequences for port invoicing. During all these years, the system has only been down for a couple of hours, which is a unique fact when it comes to IT systems”, Mr. Stene says.

”THE WHITEBOARD” – THE DRIVING FORCE

Today, GAT-Ship provides Grieg with a large amount of information, including where the ship arrives from, what kind of cargo, and time of port stay i.e… Moreover, GAT-Ship calculates Performa d/a and produces, various documents, statistics i.e...
Mr. Stene is particularly pleased with the board, the so-called system “whiteboard”.
“The ‘whiteboard’ is the actual driving force. The screen provides continuously updated information on traffic movement, time of arrival and departure, a survey of necessary documentation”, Mr. Stene says.

DOCUMENTS PRODUCED IN MINUTES

The Steder Group in Rotterdam has unified all their needs in GAT-Ship. The company is particularly satisfied with the amount of time it takes to produce necessary documents.

Steder Group logoSteder Group operates in some of the busiest ports in the world: Rotterdam, Amsterdam, Antwerp – and several other German and French ports.
“Earlier, we used several systems as required: Excel for one thing, Word for another and an e-mail application as well. Naturally, this way of working was both time-consuming and inconvenient. By unifying all these operations, GAT-Ship satisfies all our requirements”, says Mr. Marc Scholten of The Steder Group.

AUTOMATICALLY GENERATED DOCUMENTS

With GAT-Ship, the agents are provided with everything they require in terms of management information. In addition, the system has improved all information to the management. When describing the advantages of the system, Mr. Scholten specifically emphasises the amount of time it takes to produce important documents.

“Before GAT-Ship this was a time-consuming and complicated process. Now a day the same operation is carried out within minutes. We are able to link all the information we need to all relevant documents due to the fact that key information is already registered in the system. Then, the documents are automatically generated and prepared for dispatch – by fax, e-mail or post”, Mr. Scholten explains.
